McDonalds Australia, DDB Sydney serve up ode to sports in new campaign

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — As the heartbeat of Australia’s sporting culture kicks back into gear with the return of the Australian Football League (AFL) and National Rugby League (NRL) seasons, McDonald’s Australia is celebrating in the most mouth-watering way possible by bringing sports fever to life in two stunning new spots created by DDB Sydney.

After a long off-season drought, the sight of a Sherrin or a Steeden football is enough to make any fan weak at the knees. Macca’s has taken that one step further, capturing the iconic footies in glorious detail with an unmistakably Macca’s spin.

In these slick, stylized spots, the icons of both codes, the footies themselves, are transformed into visual feasts. Think cinematic close-ups of red Australian leather, lace detailing, seams, and dimples, all rendered with a crave-worthy, unmistakably Macca’s twist.

The campaign launches as part of the brand’s broader sponsorship of the NRL and AFL codes, where Macca’s continues its “Footy. I’m lovin’ it” platform. The campaign, which is now live, will appear on online video, social and in stadiums.
